Supported Accommodation
BACKGROUND
Between January 2005 and August 2015 (inclusive) 19 children and two women were killed by perpetrators of domestic abuse in circumstances relating to child contact (formally or informally arranged) (Women’s Aid, 2016). Women are more likely than men to experience multiple incidents of abuse, different types of domestic abuse (intimate partner violence, sexual assault and stalking) and in particular sexual violence. Any woman can experience domestic abuse regardless of race, ethnic or religious group, sexuality, class, or disability, but some women who experience other forms of oppression and discrimination may face further barriers to disclosing abuse and finding help.
Children are affected differently by domestic violence, studies show that they may be angry, guilty, insecure, alone, frightened, powerless or confused, which can lead to anxiety, lack of sleeping, tantrum’s and other disorders. 1 in 4 children will experience domestic violence and abuse in their lifetime1 in 7 children will have lived with domestic violence and abuse in their childhood

Women and children should be listened to, they have a voice.
We work with individuals and affected communities and provide support and/accommodation.
We push the agenda for women's freedom from domestic violence by promoting a rights-based agenda focussing on equality, empowerment and participation of individuals and equity
PARTNERSHIP WORKING
We recognise that we cannot do this solo, we partner with other stakeholders, join with networks, coming together with others to end domestic abuse by supporting and accommodating survivors.
